2011 WA Industry Dinner and Networking Event2nd June, 2011
The Perth Industry Dinner and Networking Event was held at the Royal Perth Yacht Club on Thursday, 2 June 2011.
Over 110 people attended this fantastic night with a solid mix of radio communication suppliers, dealers, manufacturers and end users attending from across the state and country.
John Florenca from Omnitronics gave an inspiring speech, encouraging the room to feel proud they were part of a strong growing industry and Andrew Stewart from ACMA gave an insightful presentation on the 400MHz band review and progress on the implementation along with changes to the UHF CB segment. He also spoke about upcoming reviews and works for the 900MHz band and also some works on the VHF bands. He thanked ARCIA for its ongoing contribution is this area and encouraged the industry to actively participate in the band review process.
It was a good night with plenty of networking occurring by all. ARCIA President, Chris Kelly, also awarded Direct Communications and Radlink Communications Accreditation status and Mobile Masters sponsored two door prizes. Both prizes went to two consultants at Calibre Global.
Don Kitchin of Titan ICT Consultants commented, "This type of function is great for the industry here - it allows for a much better cohesive voice for the industry".
David Hofgesang of Direct Communications also commented, "There are over 100 people here this evening, but there would be at least another 50 people who will wish they had been here. This is an indication of the strength of the radio communications industry in the West and shows just how much the industry is keen to get together to talk about common issues".
With the success of the Perth event, ARCIA will be holding future Industry Dinner and Networking Events in South Australia, New South Wales and Queensland in the next 12 months. The next event will take place in Adelaide at the National Wine Centre on 15 September and the Annual Industry Gala Dinner will take place in Melbourne in conjunction with RadioComms Connect in November.
