2015 WA Industry Dinner and Networking Event a Sell Out14th April, 2015
ARCIA’s Perth Industry Dinner and Networking Event was held at the Pagoda Ballroom, Como on 26th March 2015. The evening brought together the WA’s Land Mobile Radio industry members for an evening of celebration, including the showcasing some fine WA wines. Combining this year with the inaugural Comms Connect industry seminar held during the day, enabling an opportunity to learn and share, all worked to bring a day dedicated to the LMR industry.
This year brought together 110 members, guests and industry representatives, in a social environment. The evenings guest speaker, Superintendent Syd Bignell of the Department of Fire and Emergency Services State Operations Group highlighted the vast area that emergency services are required to cover in Western Australia, coupled with a broad range of events they are required to respond to, with many events lasting days or weeks, taxing the resources – both man and machines.
This year saw the first State Industry Achievement Award, which acknowledged the work done by Ralph Dix, who is known to most newly trained radio technicians in the state, as Ralph has been the lecturer at Perth’s Polytechnic Campus (for the past 23 years) delivering training as part of the Certificate in Radio Communications. Ralph was recognised for his efforts in the past 12 months of pro-active lobbying for the retention (and expansion) of technical training aligned specifically for the Land Mobile Radio sector.
Ralph’s state nomination, places him for the running for the national Peter Wallace Award, which will be announced at the ARCIA Industry Gala Dinner held in Melbourne later this year.
ARCIA acknowledges the efforts of our committee member from Western Australia, Rob Howes, in the organisation and presentation of an excellent Regional Networking event.
